Change of Habit
Apologies for using the title of an Elvis Presley song, but I could think of no better transition for my blog, which takes on a new identity as of today. Indeed, I have quit my job as a news agency journalist to become a photographer. It's a universe that is not a million miles removed from writing, but it requires a whole new set of skills. I have always taken pictures wherever I go but I felt frustrated by my lack of technical knowledge. I therefore spent the first couple of months of my new existence at a photo school in Paris, where I learnt everything from studio lighting to how to use a view camera. Spending all day talking about photography is pure luxury, but now I am in the second phase of my new career -- setting up and finding work. You can therefore expect to finally see some pictures on this blog, in addition to regular updates on the existence of a starving artist (at least I have a Parisian garret so I can hardly complain!). I hope all of you hooked on Paris Hilton will forgive me...
